A Personal Note
On September 27th, I was assisting at a yoga retreat in Greece when a hurricane caused unthinkable damage and flooding to my hometown of Asheville, NC. Hurricane Helene was the deadliest and costliest hurricane since Katrina in 2004 and the effects on my community are unmatched in recorded history.
While my home and family are ok, I live right next to the once thriving and now devastated River Arts District. My home was without power for over 2 weeks and we still do not have running water. More importantly, many of my neighbors have lost their livlihoods and some even their lives. However, the spirit of community is flourishing and we are all doing our part to recover and rebuild.
Since the airport re-opened and I returned home, my main focus has been on supporting my family and my community. This series with Dr. Ranganathan has been planned for several months and I am deeply grateful for his willingness to turn it into a fundraiser for those affected by the hurricane.
My intention is to funnel your donations to personally vetted individuals who sustained devastating loss and those supporting them. Please consider donating more than the minimum if you have been feeling called to contribute, but don't know exactly where your help is needed most.
Eternally grateful,
Mado
